Choosing Healthy Plants
The Wave Crew  Wave Petunias | Cool Wave Pansies

Hello Wave Fan Club! With the busy month of May behind us, we are now looking forward to the summer months of fun and sun. To help you fill your days with the best Wave, we asked our flower breeder Jian Ping Ren for tips on what to look for in the garden centers. Here’s what she recommends when buying Wave® Petunias that will grow strong and last all season:

Look for the pink pack, pots or baskets. Most authentic Wave Petunias are grown in pink packages with the Wave brand on it. Some are not grown in pink pots, but they should have Wave plant labels. It’s the easiest way to know you’re buying Wave.
People can shop for Wave Petunias at most any box stores, groceries, and garden centers. Wave is everywhere! (Check out this blog to learn more about how to find Wave.)
There are 4 series in Wave petunia: Tidal Wave® (massive, 3D habit) Original Wave (a groundcover-like carpet of color), Easy Wave® (mounded trailing) and Shock Wave® (mounded trailing with small flowers). Each series has 5 to 17 individual colors or mixes.

Some of our mixed containers combine with other non-petunias, too, so there are many choices, colors, sizes and forms based on what you need.
Fresh, healthy petunia plants have deep green foliage with some open fresh flowers per plant. Avoid yellowing plants or brown foliage. That may indicate disease or malnutrition.

Shop for what your garden needs. Need instant color? Choose more mature plants in big containers with lots of flowers. Want to watch plants grow over a period time? Choose small containers or packs with a couple of fresh flowers blooming. Transplant those smaller plants into big containers or the ground. There they will continue to grow and flower the whole season with good care, water and plant food.
