3 Steps to Creating the Wave® Garden of Your Dreams
The Wave Crew  Wave Petunias | Cool Wave Pansies

If you dream of having a full, lush, vibrant flower garden blooming with all kinds of Wave Petunias, here are the 3 main steps to turning that dream into a reality!

STEP 1

Plan Your Garden

The start to a beautiful garden is familiarising yourself with the area you want to plant, taking note of light, moisture conditions and the topography (physical features of the landscape). Gardening books from your local library and online resources can be a big help to making your plan and choosing plants that will grow best in the sun or the shade. For your Wave Petunias, make sure your location gets at least 6 hours of sun.

STEP 2
Choose Your Wave Faves

When thinking about a colour scheme for your garden, consider the colour wheel! Using contrasting colours adds the wonderful variance that grabs the eye and demands attention. To create this look, select colours opposite (or almost opposite) to each other on the colour wheel, like yellows and violets, or reds and blues. On the other hand, using variations and different tones of the same colour can make an impact that fits your style. With a wide range of colours to choose from, Wave Petunias will grow a beautiful carpet of colour no matter what you pick!

In Autumn and late winter, plant Cool Wave® Pansies for the first and latest garden colour. Space pansies 30 cm apart in the garden.

For lasting late Spring and Summer colour, wait until the chance of frost has passed, and space Original Wave Petunias and Easy Wave Petunias 30 to 60cm apart in garden beds.

For large areas, Tidal Wave Petunias grow according to how you space them: spaced 30 cm apart, they form a dense hedge. Spaced a little farther apart – about 46 cm – they will grow beautifully in large beds.

STEP 3
Dig In!

You’ve researched and bought your plants, and now it’s time to get digging!

Adding organics or amending your soil with compost creates an ideal Wave root environment. The further they can work their way into the soil, the better fed and hydrated they will be. After digging your hole, a dose of slow-release or granular fertiliser will give your plants a head-start to vigorous growth. (Be sure to follow the dosage instructions on the label.)

When transplanting your Wave plants, maintain the same plant depth as the original pot or pack. Place it in the ground all the way up to its soil line. Pack it in nicely.

A regular routine of liquid fertiliser (about every 10-14 days) when you water will keep your vigorous Wave plants fed and happy.
