How To Grow Pansies on Your Balcony
The Wave Crew  Wave Petunias | Cool Wave Pansies

Their light scent, velvety sheen and intense colors are just a few reasons why pansies are perfect for the balcony. They are also easy to care for and versatile for use in containers, baskets, window boxes and gardens.

Pansies are sun-loving plants that need about 6 hours of sun each day. They do well in the cooler days of Spring and Fall (they can tolerate light freezes and frosts), but they do not do well in the heat of summer.

They consume a small amount of water and if they are kept in well-drained potting soil, they will need to be watered about once a week. Do not overwater or let water sit in the container.

Give your pansies fertilizer once a week and remove blooms that are past their prime to promote new blooms. Deadheading the pansy flowers will inhibit the development of seeds. They will also benefit from a little mulch, which helps keep moisture in and weeds out of the container.
