Do you have a pet? Tell us about them!
The Wave Crew  Wave Petunias | Cool Wave Pansies

For some reason, gardening and pets seem to just go hand-in-hand! Caring for pets and plants can have the most beneficial impact on your health. They can each give their owner a sense of purpose, as well as be a source of comfort and companionship. This month, we asked our Pink Pot Ambassadors: Do you have a pet? And if so, we’d love to know more about them.

I have 2… well, technically 3 pets. 2 are Rescue pups. There’s Zoey, our 12-year-old brown & white pibble girl we saved at 5 weeks old when she was the size of a teeny little baby piglet. She’s currently fighting the good fight against lymphoma & is the strongest girl in the world. She’s the head supervisor of the garden, oversees all progress, does quality checks on the strawberries. Parker (who looks like a little house cow marshmallow of a polar bear) is our 4-year-old garden pup, also a pibble, who loves everything outdoors & I’m convinced he is actually a worm (he loves to eat the soil lol!) He demands photo shoots in the blooms on a regular basis & loves to stretch out in the sun & bake himself until he’s panting even if the shade is 2 feet away, which makes me think he’s probably also part lizard.

Then… there’s Glorpath. Glorpath is a house spider. I didn’t think I’d ever have a spider for a pet but my daughter saved him, named him (the most metal name ever, I might add) & now he lives in a little enclosure in my apothecary station. He’s pretty rad. -@igardennow

I have 2 dogs and a stray cat. We can probably stop calling him a stray now, because Mr. Darcy spends his days sunbathing in the garden, and his nights sleeping on my couch. Apollo is my oldest pup, and he loves nibbling on the blueberries and napping in the garden. Daisy is a menace, but we love her for it! She is the sole reason we don't have groundhogs and gophers tearing up the garden anymore. Her and Mr. Darcy make a good watch team. -@broadwaygardener

So, of course we have chickens! We have seven chickens and will be adding more chicks this year! We also have 2 cats [one very old, one very young... somehow both grey] and a dog that we recently rescued from the shelter that's very much made herself at home... both in the garden, and with the family. -@gardensandchickens

Oh yeah – we are animal lovers! We currently have 3 dogs and 1 cat and each has a little plant personality of their own: Bandit (11 years old – Great Pyr/Australian Shepherd Mix) Bandit is ever vigilant and makes sure our garden is safe from squirrels and bunnies Luna (3 years old) Doodle Mix Luna loves to “check on” our potted plants with her snout to make sure the dirt is just right and if it isn’t, she will “help” shift it around Maverick (1 year old) Doodle Mix Maverick is known to find the finest pieces of mulch in the garden and try to take them inside to show off Sir Bellamy – the cat (5 years old) Enjoys eating any leafy item in our house, so houseplants must be hung or placed up high! -@trowelanderrorgardening

Yes! I have 4 beautiful male dachshunds, all with gorgeous smooth coats. I started off with 2 but after volunteering for a dachshund rescue program, of course I had to bring home 2 more! I have a red, black, black and tan, and grey. The latter doxie’s coat is known as Isabella. It is an inherited genetic trait that weakens the original color of their coat (in his case, chocolate). It causes alopecia, leaving him with an extremely short coat but oh so soft. -@southernhomeandfarm

I actually have 3. Most who follow my account know I have a black garden cat, (who showed up as a stray about a year ago) named Midnight. She downright refuses to come inside and hang out. One hundred percent prefers outdoors, kind of like me. However I have 2 other indoor cats. Ozzy (6) a silver tabby and Bobbie (2) female ginger tabby. They would love to go out, but they have zero street smarts. -@wildwestgardeneringgeorgia

We have two cats that sometimes join me in the garden and 20+ chickens. I let the chickens out in the late Fall to peck and scratch in the garden when they can't damage young plants, but I must be careful as we live in the mountains, and we have bears, bobcats and coyotes just waiting to catch a fat, tasty chicken – even in broad daylight. -@flowerpatchfarmhouse
