Pink Pot Ambassador Highlight: Grandma’s Gardener
The Wave Crew  Wave Petunias | Cool Wave Pansies

For those of us in the Chicagoland area, you might have caught a glimpse of our very own Pink Pot Ambassador, Grandma’s Gardener on TV! As a native Chicagoan, he’s been busy sprucing up his own sunny oasis in the heart of the city. Spotlight Chicago showcases area individuals and organizations making a difference in the community. This recent episode featured Deronis and his magnificent garden in Garfield Park.

Throughout the segment, you can spot Purple Classic Wave® Petunias among the amazing flowers that make up his outdoor oasis. Just check out how his Wave Petunias pop with bold color and complement the other plants in his backyard garden.

Although Deronis just started gardening more than a decade ago, it was the fond memories of his grandmother that inspired him to create what we see today. Did you know that our own Pink Pot Ambassador has an award-winning neighborhood garden? You can check out this growing garden built with love. Just listen to some great gardening advice from Deronis, “If you can see dirt, add another plant!”

From WGN News:

He describes his garden as “explosive” featuring many exotic and tropical plants that are thrilling for Chicagoans to see. While many of the plants in the vibrant oasis are annuals that don’t last through the winter, Cooper doesn’t mind having to replant year after year. It’s not only a labor of love but a way to decompress from the high stress demands of his career as a Chicago Police Officer. He travels far and wide to select specific plants for his garden that showcases over dozens of varieties, often giving away plants to those interested in maintaining them indoors when he clears the garden to prep for winter. A generous neighbor, Cooper is always willing to share gardening tips and tricks, even sharing them in videos posted to his Instagram page @grandmas_gardener.
